The Public Defender Golf Association consists of about two dozen men and women who play golf every Saturday morning, in two seasons each year, Summer and Winter, mostly in and around Sarasota. Typically the PDGA moves around in the Summer season, for variety when green and cart fees are reasonable. Over the Winter the Association may play just one course for economy.
WELCOME TO THE PDGA!
In order to Join the PDGA, members must pay $35.00 up front. The money is non-refundable. At the end of each tour, the funds will be paid to first, second, and third place finishers.
The tour will kick off 3 November 2012. It will conclude the last Saturday in April. Each tour comprises 25 weeks. Ten rounds are required for a shot at the prizes.
It will be the responsibility of each member to contact Jon D about his or her intention to play. If Jon D is not contacted by noon Friday, the member's name will not be included in Saturday's game. The tour will primarily play at TPC in the winter and a variety of courses in the summer.
PDGA rules apply except: Off the first tee one mulligan is allowed. This is the only mulligan. A player may not choose his or her first ball if a mulligan is used. The highest score a player can achieve on any hole is 9.
A ball presumed to be out of bounds off a tee box must be followed by a provisional as no player will be allowed to drive back and rehit.
As of 11 July 1998 all players must use the same tee box.
As of May 2004 balls cannot be moved in a fairway. A player wishing to identify his or her ball must ask a competitor to examine the object ball. Clean and place shall be deemed legal if any venue rules cart path only conditions prevail.
A ball must be holed in order to be counted.
One player in each foursome is responsible for scores. The card must be turned over to Al L immediately.
Low net average for the games played determines the final standing of each player.
Each player will be told his or her handicap for the week.
Members may bring a guest with advance notice. As of 1 November 2008 a guest can play three times before dues become mandatory.
A player can miss 15 weeks and still be deemed eligible for prize money.
Once a ball is struck off the first tee, 18 holes must be recorded. Any number fewer than 18 is deemed to be a forfeit.
Monies will be distributed to first, second and third place finishers (55 percent for first, 25 percent for second, and 20 percent for third). Players without a handicap will operate temporarily under a Calloway system.
In the event of a tie at year's end, go back beginning at 18 until one player records a lower score.
The above-styled rules shall take effect on the first tournament date if approved by majority vote of the players present.
Any PDGA player may initiate a proposal. It requires a second to advance into debate. A simple majority vote determines PDGA policy. Proxy votes must be signed.
