Welcome to the start of the 2014-2015 Winter Tour. Your pairings will be in tomorrow’s newsletter. Imperial Lakes is charging us $23.00. Tracey the head pro said low prices will dominate Imperial this year. Last year their greens were destroyed by some mysterious ailment. They lost their fan base and they intend to get it back with affordable prices. So if we all have a good time we will play Imperial more than we normally would. This development started me thinking – what if a lot of courses saw the light and realized they were in danger of going under unless they became competitive. I see no reason why we should confine ourselves to two courses as was the policy in the past. Variety is always more interesting. I’ll be collecting dues Saturday. Rounds do not count if dues have not been paid. The more rounds a player amasses the higher the probability of victory. We need to decide on the party. As this year’s victor I recommend we visit Shane Rawley’s new restaurant, which should be open in ten days or two weeks. Shane is a member of the PDGA and we should back our own. In addition, we will have the restaurant to ourselves. We will retire there immediately after golf and Shane won’t open the doors to the public until 4 p.m. The restaurant serves beer and wine but Shane said this was a private party so if the hard stuff showed up, no problem. All the food is paid for. Each player can bring a spouse or significant other. If you don’t bring your own liquor, beer and wine will be on a separate tab. Now, if there are alternate suggestions for the party location, they will all be voted upon. But Shane’s new venue gets my strong recommendation. In another matter, quite a few players have said they will visit Sarasota National in support of Operation Rectification. I cost National about $500.00 when I made two times inadvertently. I’ll be going there myself next week and if anyone wants to join that outing (Thursday) please come along. As usual we will be accepting new members. Remember, if a player has a preference concerning a particular foursome, I always try to accommodate. Ah, I almost forgot – the date for the party. We have three choices – Nov. 8, 15 or 22. Last year’s champ Scott Dennis said he cannot make the 8th and there is a real possibility the restaurant won’t be open. That leaves the 15th and the 22nd. Perhaps the 22nd is the best option. The restaurant will certainly be open and the following week is Thanksgiving. This email is turning into a novel so I will stop here. I want to thank all of you for participating in this league. I have had a great time for the past 25 years, and you guys made it possible.
